BSF fertilizer—commonly referred to as BSF Frass—is the organic byproduct left behind after Black Soldier Fly larvae consume organic waste. It is a potent, eco-friendly soil amendment and natural fertilizer made up of a mixture of larval excrement, shed exoskeletons (containing high amounts of chitin), and digested organic matter.

BSF frass acts as both a balanced plant food and a biological defense booster:

• Balanced N-P-K Ratio: Typically around 4-3-2 (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium), depending on what the larvae were fed.

• Rich in Chitin (Natural Bio-Stimulant): The shed skins of growing larvae add significant chitin content. When applied to soil, chitin signals plants to activate their internal immune systems (Systemic Acquired Resistance or SAR), helping them naturally resist pests, root-knot nematodes, and fungal pathogens.

• Beneficial Microbes: Packed with soil-building bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes that improve nutrient uptake and restore degraded soils.

• Organic Matter & Humic Substances: Improves soil structure, water retention, and cation exchange capacity (CEC).
